Wildlife and pest control

Protecting wildlife WHILE still protecting people and their livelihoods.

I believe strongly that the control of rats and mice in and around buildings should not put wildlife at risk.

In fact I spend most weekends watching wildlife such as birds, butterflies and moths.

Last weekend was my wedding anniversary so my wife and I had a day in Wales watching red kites at Gigrin farm www.gigrin.co.uk

I took this photo from their hide overlooking the feeding site.

Our work to control rats around farms and rural properties starts with a risk assessment that looks at any alternative measures such as proofing the buildings or using traps before we consider rodenticides. If these are the best solution then these are only placed in or very near to the building and protected from non target species. Once control is achieved then baits are replaced with non-toxic monitors of various kinds.

This is in line with the guidelines of The Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use.

We are looking forward to the day when we can watch Kites around Bristol and believe its not far away.
