Helping the Clevedon foodbank during pest prevention week

Howard | 22 November 2015

The British Pest Control association have got together with the Trussell Trust to offer some free advice and, potentially, further free action by its members to help prevent pests damaging stock held by local Foodbanks.

As part of this initiative Howard Taffs of Good Riddance Pest Control in Clevedon met with John Clarke of the Clevedon and District Foodbank. Following a thorough inspection Howard was delighted to discover that the building being used was well maintained and free from any obvious gaps that could allow pests in. The stock was being professionally rotated and was stored in a modern racking system that did not allow pests room to live underneath.

The two organisations agreed the best help possible was for Howard to install some state of the art, pheromone based, insect traps. These together with ground level monitors could provide an early warning system to Foodbank staff should any unwanted insect make an entrance into the warehouse. Both parties agreed that this would ensure that foodstuffs remained of the highest quality, benefiting both the foodbank and, much more importantly the many local people that it supports.
