In the run up to the ceremony Cleankill was shortlisted in seven categories and then, on the night, scooped the Responsible Business Awards and was runner up in the Customer Service category.

This year’s awards follow the company’s success in 2017 when Cleankill was named Green Business of the Year.

Paul Bates, Managing Director for Cleankill Pest Control, said: “We are incredibly proud and thrilled to have won the Responsible Business category of The Gatwick Diamond Awards and to also be named the runner up in the Customer Service category. The awards attract some very high-calibre, large companies so it’s brilliant to have our efforts recognised. Our customers will be really pleased for us too as many choose to work with us because we operate in an ethical way and care for our staff and the environment. This year’s success follows on from last year’s when we won the Best Green Business award so it is further endorsement of the way we do business.”

Kate Thorpe of University of Sussex School of Business, Management & Economics who judged the category added: “Cleankill Pest Control has a comprehensive responsible business strategy with both social and environmental reach, and provide excellent support for staff development, leading to low staff turnover figures.

“The continuous improvement approach within the business and in terms of its reach is excellent. This can be seen by the response to feedback received at last year’s visit. Community engagement is now further developed across the business and recruitment of individuals who share these ethics and values has taken place during the year.

“Green values have been embedded into the business since its inception, and Investment in people, commitment to the green agenda, excellent customer service and good community engagement make Cleankill worthy winners of Responsible Business of the Year 2018.”
